Diaper Rash

Diaper Rash

Diaper rash is an irritant contact dermatitis which may sometimes be complicated by fungal or bacterial infection.

  • Increase diaper-free time.
  • Avoid prolonged wet diapers.
  • Clean with lukewarm water.
  • Dry gently by patting.
  • Use Clotrimazole if fungal infection suspected.
Colic

Colicky Pain

Babies may cry due to gas, hunger, or abdominal discomfort especially at night.

  • Burp after feeding.
  • Rock or gently pat baby.
  • Temporary prone position.
  • Avoid disturbance during sleep.
Evening Colic

Evening Colic

  • Unexplained crying in evening hours.
  • Abdominal gurgling may occur.
  • Burping helps temporarily.
  • Do not stop breastfeeding.
Vomiting

Vomiting

  • Common in first day due to amniotic fluid.
  • Small regurgitation is normal.
  • Consult if projectile or persistent vomiting.
  • Seek help if poor weight gain occurs.
Stool Urine

Passage of Stool and Urine

  • Meconium within 24 hours.
  • Urine within 48 hours.
  • Stool changes from black to yellow.
  • Delay needs medical attention.
Jaundice

Jaundice

Physiological jaundice appears after 2nd day and peaks around 5th–6th day.

  • Monitor severity carefully.
  • Risk higher in Rh or O blood group mothers.
  • Phototherapy may be required.
